The Social Responsibility Cell, XIMB reached Adruta Children’s Home in the rain-washed morning of Diwali. However, the gloominess could not last long. When we went downstairs to the hall room, the children greeted us wholeheartedly. They were eagerly waiting for us. The events started with children volunteering for singing, dancing and storytelling. Nidhia, a 6-year-old boy, started by singing an English rhyme followed by an Odia song. Soon, his Paltan joined the party and they performed multiple group dances. "Indeed, we have won various state-level and national-level prizes in singing, dancing and painting", said Sunil, a staff at Adruta Children's Home.
Even the children of small age are good at understanding both Hindi and Odia language. They are raised similar to us and they are above par than any average student of their age. "Our children are studying in both English and Odia medium schools. They are good in all aspects", Sunil proudly concluded. We conducted a musical chair event where everyone was at the edge of their seat cheering for their friends. Our Diwali celebration came to an end with the cutting of a Doraemon cake.
We further distributed chocolates, balloons, candle lamps and pencil boxes to those little talents. We cherish the smiles on their faces. We thank all the XIMBians who came to support us and celebrate Diwali with us in this innovative way with the incredible boys. Social Responsibility Cell of XIMB will continue to bring smiles on the faces of the young and the old for years to come.
